Vancouver BC Flooring Installation

Vancouver homes range from 1910s character in Mount Pleasant to brand-new concrete-condo towers in Yaletown. Each needs a different flooring approach. Skye Blue Construction installs solid and engineered hardwood, luxury vinyl plank (LVP), laminate, tile, and full baseboard + trim packages across the Lower Mainland.

Vancouver's coastal humidity makes flooring installation unforgiving — wood expands and contracts, concrete subfloors in newer condos hold residual moisture, and older character homes often have uneven plank subfloors that need levelling before any finished floor goes down. We handle all of it.

For hardwood, we acclimatize the planks on-site for at least 72 hours before install, lay a proper underlayment, and use blind-nailing or glue-down depending on width and subfloor. We work with both solid and engineered hardwood, including rift-sawn and quarter-sawn oak for character homes in Vancouver's older neighbourhoods.

For luxury vinyl plank (LVP) and luxury vinyl tile (LVT), we install the click-lock or glue-down systems from top brands including Karndean, Shaw, and Torlys. LVP is now the most-requested flooring in Vancouver because it's fully waterproof, stands up to wet mopping, and handles the freeze-thaw cycles of unheated spaces like Vancouver basement suites.

Tile work includes substrate prep (Ditra or WonderBoard), waterproofing for bathrooms and laundry rooms, and grout selection. We install porcelain, ceramic, natural stone, and mosaic. Baseboards and shoe moulding are installed after flooring, with mitred corners, not coped — unless the home has plaster walls, in which case we cope every inside corner.

Service area: Vancouver, Burnaby, North Vancouver, West Vancouver, Richmond, New Westminster, Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody, Surrey, Langley, White Rock. Most flooring projects are scheduled within 1–3 weeks of contract.

Flooring FAQ

Flooring Questions, Answered.

Everything Vancouver homeowners ask about our flooring service.

How much does flooring installation cost in Vancouver BC?+

LVP installs run $4–$8 per square foot, laminate $3–$6, engineered hardwood $7–$12, solid hardwood $10–$16, tile $12–$22. Pricing depends on subfloor condition, room layout, and material choice. We give free written quotes after an in-person measure.

Which flooring is best for a Vancouver basement suite?+

Luxury vinyl plank (LVP) — fully waterproof, handles cold floors, doesn't expand or contract with humidity swings. We install LVP in most Vancouver basement renovations.

Do you remove old flooring?+

Yes — we remove and dispose of old carpet, tile, hardwood, and vinyl. Disposal fees are itemized in your quote. We'll also handle asbestos testing referral for older Vancouver homes if we suspect floor tile or sheet-vinyl backing predates 1990.

How long does flooring installation take?+

A typical 800–1,200 sq ft Vancouver home takes 3–5 days for LVP or laminate, 5–7 days for hardwood, and 5–10 days for tile (including substrate and grout cure time).

Can you install flooring over radiant heat?+

Yes — engineered hardwood and LVP both work over hydronic radiant heat. Solid hardwood is not recommended. We'll specify the right adhesive and acclimatization protocol for your radiant system.

Do you handle baseboard and trim?+

Yes — we install baseboard, shoe moulding, transition strips, and threshold trim as part of every flooring package. Primed MDF, finger-jointed pine, or solid wood — your choice.
